_Recognized again by "Best Lawyers" for Environmental Law, Arbitration and Mediation, as well as for the firm. Repeat designation as "AV Pre-Eminent" through Martindale-Hubbell's peer review process. And the same for "SuperLawyers." Also recognized this year as among "Top Lawyers" through American Lawyer. But more important to me than peer review recognition is client recognition through repeat and continuing business. Thank you, to the many clients I serve, for your faith in me.
I counsel corporate clients, private and public sector clients and individuals, and advocate for them in connection with environmental permitting and compliance, defense of agency enforcement actions, and environmental litigation in state and federal courts. For over 20 years, I have handled regulatory and judicial matters in numerous jurisdictions, including California, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin, as well as Michigan. My clients include Fortune 100 corporations, closely held corporations, municipal corporations, and individuals. I pride myself on putting the interests of my clients first and on advocating zealously but intelligently to obtain the best possible result with an understanding of my client's interests and priorities. There are no typical matters in the sense that my environmental practice is extremely varied. Even in the context of a single sub-specialty like Superfund litigation, every case involves new issues as well as depending on the evolving framework of environmental regulation. I work a wide variety of types of cases, including addressing the environmental implications of corporate and real estate transactions, cleanups, redevelopment, riparian rights disputes, agency negotiations, and litigation with an environmental and/or natural resources component. I have represented and negotiated settlements as common counsel for Superfund groups of 10 to over 100 parties in several jurisdictions. My work for individual corporate clients has included serving as lead counsel on Superfund litigation and settlements, RCRA cleanups, TSCA/PCB cleanups and compliance, and other state and federal waste management and cleanup matters. I have defended enforcement actions involving air, water and soil, and have successfully advocated to end criminal investigation of a client parallel to civil enforcement. Work on natural resource issues includes defense of and challenges to wetlands, sand dunes and dredging permits. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss your needs and interests. See my ADR page for additional background on my work as a mediator and arbitrator in any type of litigation. |
